Crackdown on illegal migration attracts funding, personnel, publicity—and even celebrity recruits.

Dean Cain, erstwhile star of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. has set out his plans to join the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).

Bucking ‘woke’ Hollywood trends, the actor, deputy sheriff, and reserve police officer responded to government recruitment messaging and is set to be sworn in as an ICE agent.

In late July, the 10,000-strong agency promised to double its headcount by recruiting new personnel. The announcement almost coincided with a new feature film based on the vintage comic-book character, which was marketed partly in keeping with the original storyline as an ‘immigrant’ narrative. The new film’s star, David Corenswet, also faced antisemitic calls for a boycott in Malaysia on account of his part-Jewish parentage.

By Wednesday, August 6th, ICE claimed to have received more than 80,000 applications for the 10,000 positions. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem told Fox News that the agency had removed age limits on applicants, helping to drive up staff numbers.

Dean Cain’s actions are not completely out of step with the left-liberal U.S. entertainment industry. While Sydney Sweeney has attracted publicity as a registered Republican, Mayans MC actor Vincent ‘Rocco’ Vargas recently returned to temporary service with the U.S. Border Patrol.
