FPÖ MP, Martin Graf has slammed what he calls “funding madness” under former Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, highlighting millions of euros given to organizations in Austria and abroad. According to Graf, the Muslim Scouts and the Muslim Youth of Austria (MJÖ) alone received around €1 million.
Graf criticized both domestic and international spending, citing €15,000 to promote girls’ soccer in Niger, €50,000 for a project in Sierra Leone, and €25,000 for Sahrawi refugee sports programs. He questioned the logic of allocating such sums during a period of planned austerity, when the government aims to save €270 million annually on pensions.
Kogler, former minister of sport, was responsible for the expenditures which Graf described as “misguided funding policies.”
“If organized misuse of political funding were a criminal offense in Austria, Federal Minister Werner Kogler would have to serve a life sentence, in my opinion,” Graf stated.
