Accused of raping a teenager, the Algerian was found to be under an order to leave French territory at the time.

On September 19th, a 15-year-old boy was raped near the Nointel-Mours train station in Val-d’Oise. The teenager was approached on a Réseau Express Régional train traveling from Persan to Nointel, where a man forcibly kissed him as he exited the platform.

The minor sought help from a bus driver near the station, but the driver told him to get off the bus without offering help. The perpetrator followed him into a nearby street and sexually assaulted him before fleeing.

Authorities quickly launched an investigation. The Persan territorial gendarmerie and Versailles research section managed to locate the suspect, who is a 32-year-old Algerian national under an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). He was arrested and taken into custody.

The suspect has been charged by an investigative judge in Pontoise for rape of a minor and was placed in pre-trial detention. According to Actu17, he was to be transferred to an administrative detention center, but no space was available.

France has seen a rise in migrant-related crimes in recent years. Last month, a Libyan teenager was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman near the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
