A 23-year-old activist, identified as Quentin, is fighting for his life in a Lyon hospital following a violent assault on the evening of February 12th. The incident occurred on the sidelines of a conference held by far-left party La France Insoumise MEP Rima Hassan at Sciences Po Lyon, which had drawn protests from the right-wing feminist collective Némésis.
The tension began when several female activists from Némésis unfurled a banner criticizing “Islamo-leftists” at the university. According to the collective’s director, Alice Cordier, the women were physically confronted by anti-fascist groups. One 19-year-old woman was reportedly strangled and dragged during the initial clash. Quentin, who was part of an informal security detail stationed nearby to protect the female protesters, was allegedly followed by a group of attackers as he and a friend attempted to leave the area.
Witnesses state that the two men were ambushed and beaten in a nearby street. Quentin lost consciousness and was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a coma with a critical brain hemorrhage. His family has confirmed that he is currently “between life and death.”
