China has moved to smooth trade tensions with Germany, caused by rare-earth and chip export curbs that disrupted German production.
At the G20 summit on Sunday, November 23rd, Premier Li Qiang told Chancellor Friedrich Merz that both nations should strengthen dialogue and cooperate in emerging sectors such as new energy, smart manufacturing, biomedicine, hydrogen, and intelligent driving.
Merz is expected to visit China soon, while trade between the countries remains strong, with Germany importing $107 billion (€93 billion) worth of Chinese goods and China buying $95 billion (€82 billion) of German products in 2024.
