A 27-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker has been remanded in custody after allegedly attacking two women with a metal pole in the southern German town of Horb am Neckar.
Prosecutors said the man faces charges of attempted manslaughter following the incident early Monday in the town square. Police said he argued with a 41-year-old woman and her 31-year-old companion before striking them with a metal barrier pole. Both were seriously injured.
The 41-year-old was briefly in critical condition but is now “stable and alert,” police told broadcaster SWR. The suspect, who has lived in Germany since 2015, was already wanted under an arrest warrant.
