Emily Damari, kidnapped by Hamas and freed in January, accuses Labour leader of legitimising terror by offering statehood with no conditions on Hamas.

British Hamas kidnapping victim Emily Damari has condemned the announcement offering to formally recognise the state of Palestine as one that risked “rewarding terror.”

According to Ms. Damari, who was shot in the hand by her Hamas abductors, the Prime Minister’s approach  would send a ‘dangerous message that violence earns legitimacy.’

Released from captivity in January this year, Damari declared

By legitimising a state entity while Hamas still controls Gaza and continues its campaign of terror, you are not promoting a solution; you are prolonging the conflict … Recognition under these conditions emboldens extremists and undermines any hope for genuine peace. Shame on you.

Starmer has threatened to recognise a Palestinian state from September, unless Israel meets four conditions, including a ceasefire. No demands are placed on Hamas—which favours a global caliphate—in exchange for such recognition. Damari’s voice adds to the chorus of condemnation of Starmer’s latest blackmail attempt against Israel.
