Haribo has recalled its “Happy Cola F!ZZ” sweets in the Netherlands after cannabis was found in several packets, causing multiple people—including children—to fall ill.
The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) said only three bags were affected, but a full recall was launched as a precaution.
“There are bags in circulation with sweets that can lead to health complaints, such as dizziness, when consumed,” the NVWA said in a statement.
NVWA spokesperson Saida Ahyad told AFP that the cannabis was discovered in the cola bottle-shaped sweets after police received reports of illness.
“Several people, both children and adults, became ill after eating the cola bottles,” she said.
Haribo has issued a safety warning following consultation with authorities. The NVWA urged consumers: “Do not eat the sweets.”
Police are investigating how the cannabis ended up in the product. Haribo has not yet responded to media inquiries.
