Hungarian families have never received such a level of support as they will next year, according to the state secretary for families at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation.

Speaking on the occasion of Children’s Day in Hungary, state secretary Zsófia Koncz declared a higher than ever level of support would drive family policy in 2026. She also took to social media with a video captioned

We are introducing Europe’s largest tax reduction program for families. Happy Children’s Day!

Koncz outlined how 5% of GDP will be spent on family support, ensuring around HUF 4.8 trillion (€12 billion) would be available. This is five times as much as was allocated in the 2010 budget and nearly HUF 1 trillion more than this year.

Various family allowances will be tax-exempt and, from October 1st, mothers with three children will be exempted from social security tax. Other benefits will rise in line with the number of children in a family.
