PM Orbán’s chief strategist said Brussels wants a compliant government, but Hungarians “will decide for themselves about our future, peace, security, and destiny.”

The European Union described allegations made on Monday, March 23rd that Hungary had leaked sensitive EU information to Moscow as “greatly concerning.”

Brussels spokesperson Anitta Hipper said:

A relationship of trust between member states, and between them and the institution is fundamental for the work of the EU and we expect the Hungarian government to provide the clarifications.

In response, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó addressed the allegations directly on X, stating:

Fake news as always. You are telling lies in order to support Tisza Party to have a pro-war puppet government in Hungary. You will not have it!

Balázs Orbán, Political Director of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, also reacted on X, saying:

What they want is a weak, compliant Hungarian government—one that follows the instructions of Brussels and Kyiv rather than representing Hungarian national interests. For this, Péter Magyar is the perfect choice.

But the Hungarian people will not give up their sovereignty, and will not follow anyone’s orders. Hungarians will decide for themselves about our future, peace, security, and destiny.
