Israel Electric Corporation reported damage to electricity infrastructure across northern and central regions in Israel, causing widespread power outages.

Two people were killed and another seriously wounded during an Iranian missile barrage targeting central Israel on March 9th, 2026, Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed.

Cluster munitions reportedly struck at least six sites, including a construction area where one victim was later declared dead despite resuscitation attempts. Another casualty was evacuated in serious condition by Mobile Intensive Care Unit to Sheba Medical Center.

MDA paramedic Liz Goral described the scene as “difficult,” noting that the casualties suffered severe shrapnel injuries. A fourth individual, a woman in her 40s, sustained a head injury from flying debris while heading to a shelter and was treated on site before evacuation.

Authorities emphasized that while missile fire has decreased from roughly 100 per day to 10, repeated strikes still forced millions to take shelter during Operation Roaring Lion, now in its second week.

Meanwhile in Iran, the Assembly of Experts appointed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s 56-year-old son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the new Supreme Leader. The move has been met with immediate hostility from Iranian citizens, as seen in social media footage showing women chanting “Death to Mojtaba” in the streets of Tehran.
