The IDF announced that it had killed the highest-ranking Palestinian ISIS leader in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip.

According to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida was killed last week in the Al-Bureij area of central Gaza, The Times of Israel reported.

Abu Zubaida led ISIS’s Palestinian branch and was responsible for coordinating and carrying out terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria (West Bank), the Gaza Strip, and the Sinai Peninsula.

The IDF statement highlighted that the terrorist organisation actively engaged in combat against Israel’s military and played a role in smuggling weapons and financial resources into Gaza.
