Israel conducted airstrikes on Houthi military and propaganda sites in Yemen on Wednesday, September 10. The operation targeted Sanaa and al-Jawf, in response to a drone attack on Ramon Airport.
The strikes reportedly killed at least 35 people and injured more than 130. They were carried out after recent Houthi missile and drone attacks on Israel—including one on Ramon Airport—and are part of ongoing Houthi attacks on Israel and Red Sea shipping during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
In response to Houthi attacks, Israel and a U.S.-led coalition have hit Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, including Sanaa and the port city of Hodeida, for months. Strikes previously shut down Sanaa airport in May.
A U.S.-brokered deal to stop Houthi attacks on shipping did not prevent them from targeting Israeli-linked sites. Israel’s retaliation included an August 28 strike killing the Houthi prime minister and at least 11 ministers.
