Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli slammed Zohran Mamdani and urged New York’s Jews to consider moving to Israel, warning the city is “walking into the abyss.”

Israel’s Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli criticized New York’s newly elected mayor, Zohran Mamdani, on Wednesday, November 5th, calling him a “Hamas supporter” and urging the city’s Jewish residents to consider moving to Israel.

“The city that once stood as a symbol of global freedom has handed over its keys to a Hamas supporter,” Chikli wrote on X.

He went on to say that Mamdani’s views were “not far from those of the jihadist fanatics who, 25 years ago, murdered three thousand of its own people,” referring to the September 11, 2001 attacks by Al-Qaeda on New York and Washington.

Mamdani, 34, a long-standing supporter of Palestine, will become New York’s first Muslim mayor in January.

His criticism of Israel, including describing it as an “apartheid regime” and calling the Gaza war a “genocide,” has drawn backlash from the Jewish community.

“New York will never be the same again, especially not for its Jewish community. The city is walking, eyes open, into the abyss into which London has already plunged,” Chikli added on X.

“I invite the Jews of New York to seriously consider making their new home in the Land of Israel.”
