Authorities in Bologna have banned a pro-Palestinian demonstration planned for October 7th, citing security concerns after days of nationwide protests and clashes.

The rally, organized by Giovani Palestinesi Italia to mark the anniversary of Hamas’s 2023 attack on Israel, was also planned in Turin.

Bologna’s prefect Enrico Ricci confirmed the ban, while the group vowed on Instagram to proceed regardless.

Israel’s ambassador to Italy, Jonathan Peled, praised the cancellation, calling the event an attempt to “glorify the October 7 massacre.”

Meanwhile, protests continued in Rome for a fourth consecutive day.
