U.S. Vice President JD Vance landed in London on Friday with his family to begin a working visit that includes a meeting with Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
The agenda, while informal, is expected to address major global challenges such as the crises in Ukraine and Gaza, alongside trade issues and transatlantic cooperation.
Vance’s visit arrives during a time of shifting political dynamics in both countries. Known for his firm views on free speech and national sovereignty, the vice president has previously voiced concerns over certain policy directions in Britain under Labour.
While those remarks drew public attention, officials now emphasize the pragmatic tone of current dialogue. Despite earlier disagreements, Vance and Lammy are said to have built a cordial working relationship.
Officials describe the trip as a chance to strengthen dialogue and cooperation rather than spark confrontation.
