Dmitry Peskov urged Volodymyr Zelensky to make the “necessary decisions.”

The Kremlin said on Thursday, January 14th, that Ukraine was running out of options to reach a deal to end the war with Russia, as waves of Russian attacks left thousands in Kyiv without heating amid temperatures of minus 12 degrees Celsius. The comments came as Moscow signalled it would not soften its territorial demands.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the situation was worsening for Ukraine and urged President Volodymyr Zelensky to accept what he described as necessary decisions.

Moscow has insisted that Kyiv withdraw from large areas of eastern and southern Ukraine as a condition for a ceasefire, and has warned it will seize more territory by force if diplomacy fails.

February 24th will mark the fourth anniversary of the Russo-Ukrainian war, with fighting continuing despite months of U.S.- and European-led efforts to broker an end to the conflict. Ukraine has said it has agreed on a revised peace framework with Western partners but Moscow has rejected any changes to proposals it sees as favouring its position.
