Russia is taking “all necessary measures,” including restricting mobile internet access, to ensure the May 9th Victory Day parade is safe, the Kremlin said on Wednesday, May 7th, after Ukrainian drone attacks on the previous day disrupted hundreds of flights.

The most important guest Putin will welcome is Xi Jinping. The Chinese leader is set to arrive in Moscow today, for a four-day state visit to “deepen mutual trust” with Russia, Beijing said.

“Our military and special services are taking all necessary measures to ensure that the celebration of the Great Victory takes place in a calm, stable and peaceful atmosphere,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, describing the scheduled internet restrictions “necessary” due to Russia’s “dangerous neighbourhood,” a reference to Ukraine.
