At least 15 people were taken to hospital on Thursday after a double-decker bus mounted the pavement and crashed outside London’s Victoria Station during the morning rush hour, police said.
Two more people were treated at the scene on Allington Street, but none of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the route 24 bus was among those injured.
Witnesses said the bus was travelling at speed before it left the road. “People were screaming – it was terrible,” said Emit Suker, who saw the crash.
Footage showed the bus with a smashed windscreen surrounded by police, fire crews, and ambulances. Officers appealed for dashcam and phone footage as they investigate.
Victoria Station, a major transport hub near Buckingham Palace, was busy with commuters and tourists at the time. No arrests have been made.
