Macron To Meloni: “Stop Commenting” On Lyon Incident

After the international community was shocked by anti-fascists fatally beating a young conservative activist, the French president told Italy's PM to “let everyone stay in their own lane.”

Thursday, February 19th saw President Emmanuel Macron call on Giorgia Meloni to stop “commenting on what is happening in other people’s countries,” after the Italian prime minister expressed shock at the fatal beating of a conservative activist in France.

Quentin was a 23-year-old student in Lyon who suffered a critical brain hemorrhage after being brutally assaulted by so-called anti-fascists for protecting a conservative women’s demonstration. He died in hospital after being put in a coma. The incident shocked the international community.

On Wednesday, February 18th, Meloni said that the killing of Quentin Deranque was “a wound for all of Europe.” The following day, on the sidelines of an official visit to New Delhi, Macron said

Let everyone stay in their own lane.
