President Donald Trump and UK prime minister Keir Starmer signed a ‘groundbreaking’ U.K.-U.S. Tech Prosperity Deal, with Starmer calling it the largest investment package in British history worth £250 billion (€288 billion).
The deal emphasizes AI investment with companies like Nvidia, OpenAI, Google, and Salesforce pledging projects expected to create up to 15,000 jobs in the UK.
Trump praised the U.S.’ “unbreakable bond” with the UK, saying the two countries will cooperate to “dominate” the future of AI.
Starmer announced a new civil nuclear deal with 12 advanced reactors to be built in northeast England, boosting energy for millions of homes and improving security. Downing Street called it the largest commercial package ever secured during a state visit, highlighting the UK-U.S. economic partnership.
Starmer said U.S. companies pledged £150 billion (€173 billion) to the UK. Trump praised the ‘special’ U.S.-UK relationship and thanked Starmer and his wife for welcoming him to Chequers.
Trump and Starmer previously marked the ‘special’ UK-U.S. relationship with a trade deal in May. The agreement opened the UK market to U.S. exports, removed steel and aluminum tariffs and streamlined customs. Trump highlighted reciprocity in trade while Starmer called it ‘historic’ for British businesses and jobs.
