The 40-year-old was detained for his alleged involvement in a cyberattack on Collins Aerospace that caused major flight delays.

A man in his 40s was arrested in West Sussex on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act offences after a ransomware attack on Collins Aerospace disrupted baggage and check-in systems at Heathrow and other European airports.

The incident caused hundreds of flight delays, forcing some airlines to check in passengers manually. Collins Aerospace is rebuilding the system with no timeline for full recovery, while extra staff assist passengers.

Ransomware attacks like this are increasingly common with organised crime groups earning millions annually.
