In a post published on his official X account on Wednesday, July 2nd, Balázs Orbán, the political director of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, sharply rebuked the head of the centre-right European People’s Party, Manfred Weber for meddling in Hungary’s internal affairs.
Weber accused Hungary of violating “fundamental principles”—pointing to the banning of Budapest Pride as proof—and declared that only pro-Ukraine voices are welcome as political partners. “This is our red line,” he told Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
Orbán reacted by stating that the German politician’s criticism crossed a diplomatic line.

Let’s be clear: what Brussels…
In his tweet, Orbán said:
We are fed up with Brussels elites meddling in Hungary’s affairs while dragging Europe closer to war. Fast-tracking Ukraine’s accession isn’t diplomacy—it’s dangerous escalation.
Hungary’s stance is clear: we protect our children, keep the migrants out, preserve the family, & defend a future rooted in national values—not Brussels ideology.
