One man suffered multiple stab wounds, the other various injuries, after a fight at the busy station.

Two people were injured in a stabbing at Brussels-Midi station in the early hours of August 21, authorities confirmed to VRT Nieuws.

The incident took place around 1:25 a.m. near the junction of Zuidlaan and Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier. Police arrived to find a public fight in progress. According to prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Maryam Benayad, both victims appeared to be intoxicated.

“One of them had several visible knife wounds, while the other suffered various injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment,” Benayad said.

After receiving medical care, the two men were taken into custody and will be questioned about the circumstances of the incident. Police said no sharp or dangerous objects were recovered from the scene.
