Denmark will ban all civilian drone flights from Monday to Friday while Copenhagen hosts a European Union summit, the transport ministry announced. Justice minister Peter Hummelgaard said the restriction will help police focus on genuine security threats.
Regional concern is growing: Norway reported drone activity near Brønnøysund Airport, while Germany is seeking permission to shoot down unidentified drones. NATO has increased surveillance in the Baltic region.
Danish authorities have yet to identify the source of the drones, although Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen pointed to Russia as Europe’s main security threat—an accusation Moscow denies. EU defence ministers are now prioritising the creation of a joint “drone wall” to prevent future incursions.
