Fresh figures show nearly 860 migrants arrived in just two days—212 on Sunday, August 24, and an estimated 650 on Monday, August 25—piling pressure on the Labour government.
Since migrant crossings usually spike during favourable weather rather than because of policy shifts, the bank holiday weekend ended with almost a thousand more arrivals, further straining the Home Office under Starmer. Despite Labour’s pledge to “smash the gangs,” the latest data reveal an average of 125 people are still making the Channel crossing every day, with no sign of the flow slowing.
