Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday, September 28, that Israel is collaborating with Washington and its plan to end the war in Gaza. Netanyahu sounded more cautious than President Donald Trump, who described the plan as a “real chance for greatness” in the Middle East.
The 21-point proposal, presented last week to Arab leaders, is in its final stages ahead of a Monday White House meeting between the two leaders—although key differences remain.
Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s firm opposition to the Palestinian Authority playing any role in Gaza, citing its ties to terror and incitement. In contrast, Trump’s plan does envision a future Palestinian role after reforms.
Netanyahu also stated that Hamas leaders could be granted safe passage if they end hostilities and release hostages but emphasized that the details must still be worked out. Sources say significant gaps remain between Israel and the U.S. on the conditions for ending the conflict.
