A man caught on camera attacked the sister in an abbey in the Tarn-et-Garonne region but prosecutors have decided not to pursue the case.

In Moissac, a man entered Saint-Pierre Abbey last week, and assaulted a nun, pushing her, and screaming death threats into her face, French right-wing outlet CNews reported on Sunday. A local resident filmed the attack, showing the man finally leaving after kicking the church door open.

Pierre-Guillaume Mercadal, the man who filmed the incident, said he was shocked, as the church is sacred to him, and urged people not to give in to fear.

Despite the footage documenting the assault, the prosecutor in Montauban has chosen not to pursue the case. The mayor of Moissac, Romain Lopez, expressed frustration, telling CNews that the local authorities and the parish were not informed of the decision.

The motives behind the attack and the perpetrator remain unknown.
