Polish authorities have broken up a major Europe-wide drug trafficking ring, seizing narcotics valued at around $275 million, police announced.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBSP) said the group was led by Polish nationals based in Spain, some of whom were linked to football hooligan gangs.
In coordinated raids, officers seized 600 kilograms of marijuana, 180 kilograms of hashish, 40 kilograms of amphetamine sulfate, seven firearms, and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
According to police, the drugs were bound for markets in Ireland, Germany, Austria, and Scandinavia.
The investigation was carried out with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies from several EU countries, the CBSP added.
