The new INSA poll measuring German preferences for the European Parliament elections shows Alternative für Deutschland (AfD; the ESN group) narrowly leading the race, while support for the governing Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD; the S&D group) continues to stagnate.
According to the latest figures, the AfD stands at 26.5%, a slight increase of 0.5 percentage points, consolidating its position at the top. The combined Christian Democrats/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU; EPP group) follows closely at 24.5%, slipping just 0.5 points, but enough to drop back into second place.
The SPD, meanwhile, records just 15%, underlining the party’s continued struggle to regain voter confidence amid economic pressures and migration concerns.
With campaigning intensifying, analysts expect the coming weeks to focus heavily on debates over migration, security, and the economy—issues that have defined the electoral mood and helped propel the AfD to the forefront of public support.
The AfD is also breaking records at the national level. One INSA poll, published in October 2025, shows the party hit 27%, its highest ranking ever, with senior figures boasting that it is “heading towards 30% in big strides.”
