Two anti-regime protesters were hospitalised after being attacked outside the Iranian Embassy in London on Friday morning, during a demonstration against the Islamic Republic.
The protest, organised by pro-Shah activists, featured the pre-1979 Iranian national flag, banners supporting Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, and several Israeli flags. It came amid rising tensions due to the ongoing Israel-Iran war.
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of violence near Prince’s Gate, SW1, shortly before 10 a.m. “Six men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm – they remain in police custody,” a spokesman said.
“Two men were treated for injuries at the scene and have been taken to hospital for further treatment by the London Ambulance Service.”
Police have cordoned off the area, and a heavy security presence remains as investigations continue.
