Reform UK has become the first British political party to accept Bitcoin donations, party leader Nigel Farage announced Thursday during a cryptocurrency conference in Las Vegas.
Unveiling a draft “Crypto Assets and Digital Finance Bill,” Farage promised that a Reform-led government would cut capital gains tax on crypto to 10% and establish a Bitcoin digital reserve at the Bank of England.
“Crypto, Bitcoin, digital assets are here to stay,” he said to applause, pledging a “crypto revolution” that would make London a global hub for digital finance.
The move sharply contrasts with Labour’s more cautious approach. Chancellor Rachel Reeves last month proposed regulating crypto firms like traditional finance companies, while some MPs even called for rules akin to gambling laws.
Farage praised the U.S. for its pro-crypto stance and said Reform would include its proposals in the party’s general election manifesto.
Reform UK’s website was updated on Thursday evening to accept cryptocurrency donations.
