The IBA president wants a man who took an Olympic gold in women’s boxing to give it back.

The president of the International Boxing Association (IBA) has called for Imane Khelif to “be made to return the Olympic medal from Paris.”

Disclosing that the fighter failed two ‘sex tests’ which revealed X and Y chromosomes, Umar Kremlev is enraged that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed Khelif to compete in a female category at the Paris Summer Olympics.

While the scientific evidence debunks a narrative of “misinformation” and “discrimination,” those advocating the right of male (and intersex) athletes to compete with biological women have continued to back the boxer, who has become something of a sporting hero in Algeria.

After two rounds of testing  in 2022 and 2023, Kremlev’s IBA banned the 25-year-old from its official events. Now, Kremlev has hit out at the IOC for allowing Khelif’s fights to go ahead—and for “not fighting for the fairness in sport”:

The IOC is giving away medals based on their political interests. Imane Khelif should be made to return the Olympic medal from Paris.

Ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics, Kremlev also praised U.S. president Donald Trump for banning ‘transgender women’ (i.e. men) from competing against biological women in the United States.
