The president of France’s right-wing Rassemblement National (RN) party—Jordan Bardella—was struck on the head with an egg on Saturday, November 29th, just days after another incident in which a protester threw flour at him.
Bardella was promoting his latest book in Moissac, southwest France, when a 74-year-old broke an egg over his head. The suspected attacker was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of violence against a public official, prosecutor Bruno Sauvage of Montauban said.
Bardella posted on X, formerly Twitter, late Saturday:
The more progress we make, the closer we get to power, the more violence, intolerance and pure stupidity from the far-left are unleashed. But a wind of freedom, national pride and patriotism is blowing across France, and they won’t be able to stop it.
According to recent polling, the RN now has its best-ever chance of winning power in the 2027 presidential election, with President Macron having served the maximum two terms.
