Marcin Romanowski warned that “the model used by globalist networks” relies on “pressure and blackmail.”

Polish Law and Justice (PiS) politician Marcin Romanowski has joined the ranks of those warning that there is a coordinated political campaign underway against Hungary.

In a post on X, Romanowski argued that Ukraine is now attempting to “interfere in the election campaign in Hungary hand in hand with globalists in Brussels.” He said the situation resembles tensions that emerged between Kyiv and the conservative Polish government ahead of the 2023 vote.

Romanowski, who was granted political asylum in Hungary following politically motivated persecution in his home country, recalled that Ukraine harshly criticised the Polish government at the time of the dispute over Ukrainian grain exports, despite the fact that Warsaw had been one of Kyiv’s most important allies since the start of the war. Poland opened its borders to millions of Ukrainian refugees, Romanowski noted, providing extensive military and humanitarian assistance, while Polish leaders were among the strongest advocates of international support for Ukraine.

When Poland, together with Hungary and Slovakia, moved to block the imports of low-quality, cheap Ukrainian imports to protect local farmers, there were “very clear political signals of sympathy toward the liberal opposition” from Kyiv, the former PiS deputy minister said.

Romanowski argued that the current dispute involving Hungary has gone even further. Instead of tensions over agricultural markets, the conflict now involves energy transit and economic pressure, including the cutting off of oil supplies.

“The model used by globalist networks looks strikingly similar everywhere: pressure and blackmail,” Romanowski wrote.
