An unnamed commando of the Royal Marines who went public about his fears in connection with DEI hires at the Marines is now facing internal investigations on terrorism charges.

The commando raised his concerns to his fellow Marines about the possible lowered standards for women to get into this elite corps. According to him, enabling policies like this leads to an “unrecognisable, weak and compromised version of the corps”. He claims to be worried since lives are at stake in case of war and units depend on each other, and fears his life would be in danger if other units contain DEI hires rather than members who completed the notoriously hard training program.

“We believe that we have the high standards that we keep for [a] very important reason, which is to prevent Marines from being killed in dangerous situations when we go to war. … We are concerned that those standards are being dropped,” the commando said.

The later published private letter claims women are “artificially pushed through training” in order to ramp up the number of women in service. The man raising the issue says his letter gained over 1,000 signatures in support in a matter of 24 hours, after which the letter was taken offline and an investigation started into the author.

After coming forward to his chain of command, the Marine was flown from his base to London for over two hours of interrogation on terrorism charges. The man described the situation as a “full-on witch hunt” for anyone who signed the letter and for him who raised the issue. Royal Marines’ interrogation is based on suspicions that the man’s opinions support “extreme far-Right politics.”
