The Ukrainian government has officially confirmed that the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv was damaged in a Russian attack early on Sunday morning.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 805 drones and 13 missiles during a nighttime assault on the capital city. Of these, 751 drones were intercepted, the Air Force reported.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed that the roof and upper floors of the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv sustained damage. Given that central Kyiv is among the most heavily defended areas in Ukraine, this direct hit is seen as both strategically and psychologically significant.

Civilians were also targeted in the attack. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, a young woman and an infant under one year old were killed when a nine-storey apartment building in the Svyatoshynsky district was hit. Rescuers are currently searching for a possible third victim. Police have confirmed that 16 other people were injured in various strikes across the capital.

The overnight attacks come amid growing warnings from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has cautioned Western governments against increased support for Ukraine, saying that foreign troops could be at risk of Russian retaliation.
