Russian drones and missiles struck a key railway hub near Kyiv overnight, causing significant damage to the facility and several rail cars, though no casualties were reported. According to Ukrainian state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, the attack was part of a wider Russian operation targeting the capital region, hitting both energy and transport infrastructure. Several buildings at the railway junction were damaged, and a fire broke out at the site. No reports of casualties have been received so far.
Authorities stressed that keeping the rail network operational remains vital, as it plays a key role in military logistics and civilian evacuation during the war.
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector and infrastructure, targeting power plants and railway junctions. The targets of the attacks were energy and heat production facilities in the Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories. In the southern Odessa region, some 9,500 customers were left without heating and 34,000 without water.
Meanwhile, Poland scrambled aircraft overnight in response to the Russian attacks, though the armed forces’ operational command said there had been no violations of Polish airspace.
