Belgian consumers’ rights organisation Testachats (with the support of its umbrella organisation Euroconsumers) is taking Ryanair to court.
Testachats says Ryanair misleads passengers regarding seat prices in various ways, including presenting promotional prices as being the cheapest avaialable options even when that is not the case.
The company also presents only the lowest-priced tickets when consumers search for flights on its website, making them believe there is a fixed prices for a given day, even when there are multiple flights available for a given day. This practice, known as ‘bait pricing’ or ‘drip pricing,’ is banned under EU regulations as well as by Belgian law.
Among other irregular sales practices, Ryanair also keeps falsely claiming that certain tickets are only available for a limited time, pressuring consumers to make a purchase.
