France’s disgraced ex-president’s 216-page tome will offer a first-hand account of his 20 days behind bars, following a criminal conspiracy conviction.

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will release a prison memoir titled “A Prisoner’s Diary” on 10 December, detailing his 20 days in La Santé prison.

He was released on November 10th, pending appeal after being sentenced to five years for criminal conspiracy related to his 2007 campaign funding—courtesy of Colonel Gaddafi of Libya.

Separated from the general prison population, Sarkozy reflects in his book on the constant noise and the inner life of an inmate, sharing insights from an admittedly short stay in conditions resembling solitary confinement. His appeal is scheduled to be heard from March 16th to June 3rd, 2026.
