An explosive device was detonated in Balashikha in the Moscow Oblast of Russia, some 15 km from the Russian capital, on the morning of Friday, April 25th, killing a senior Russian general, the Investigative Committee in charge of major crimes said. The agency added it had launched a murder probe.
“Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the main operational directorate of the military’s General Staff, was killed as a result of a blast” the committee said.
Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik was a senior officer within the strategy unit of the Russian armed forces.
In December 2024, Igor Kirillov, also a senior military general who was in charge of Russia’s nuclear defence forces, was killed in a bomb blast in Moscow.
