According to new police data, Brussels recorded between 150 and 225 sexual-offence cases every month in the first seven months of 2025. A total of 1,048 cases were reported between January and July.

The numbers have been rising every year since 2020. Police registered 2,174 cases in 2024, up from 1,846 in 2023. Even if this reflects the willingness of more complainants to report these crimes, officers say that it demonstrates a genuine increase.

Rape and sexual assault made up most of the cases. Other offences included public indecency, the digital sharing of sexual content (including child abuse images), and the grooming of minors.
