The 21-year-old man had a history of illegal border crossings and assaulting law enforcement officers.

Once again, German police were confronted with violent resistance from a migrant at the country’s southern border.

Reports have now emerged that a 21-year-old Somali was stopped on the Saalbrücke Bridge near Freilassing as he attempted to enter Germany without proper documents on the morning of Saturday, September 6th.

According to the German Federal Police, the man repeatedly interrupted officers and an interpreter during the charge announcement. In custody, he became aggressive:

He allegedly subsequently attempted to bite an officer in the forearm. This was prevented. The person was restrained.

Investigations revealed that the Somali had already filed an asylum application in Germany in March 2022. While this allows him to remain in the country, it does not grant the right to re-enter.

Authorities also confirmed he has been flagged multiple times: earlier this year he tried to enter illegally in Rosenheim’s jurisdiction, and in July 2025 he carried out a violent attack on police officers.

The suspect is now facing charges of attempted illegal entry, resistance, and assaulting law enforcement officers.

The Traunstein Public Prosecutor’s Office requested an arrest warrant, and on Sunday he was transferred to a correctional facility.

This disturbing case follows a similar  incident in Berlin, where a Senegalese migrant bit a municipal officer after being approached for discarding a cigarette and refusing to show ID or pay a fine.
