Spanish conservative news site El Debate reports that the Spanish Civil Guard’s Central Operational Unit (UCO) was deployed this afternoon, in compliance with the request of Judge Leopoldo Puente, the Supreme Court’s investigator in the “PSOE case,” in a coordinated police operation at several locations linked to the main political leaders of the corruption scandal affecting the Socialist (PSOE) Sánchez government. UCO is carrying out the searches to gather documents and communications relevant to the criminal investigation.
The Civil Guard has launched a simultaneous operation at the headquarters of PSOE, at the Ministry of Transport, the Spanish State Railways Company Adif, and the General Directorate of Roads.
The PSOE is cornered by corruption cases, and this latest episode shows that PM Pedro Sánchez can no longer stick to the narrative that the accusations of pervasive corruption linked to his party, family and the government are baseless.
