Britain’s House of Commons heard calls for a ban on wearing the burqa in public during Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQs) on Wednesday.
Sarah Pochin MP asked:
Given the Prime Minister’s desire to strengthen strategic alignment with our European neighbours, will he in the interests of public safety follow the lead of France, Denmark, Belgium and others, and ban the burqa?
An immediate brush-off from Starmer angered Reform UK supporters, who took issue with “Keir Starmer’s blatant disregard for a democratically elected MP during PMQs … nothing short of disgraceful. The arrogance it takes to outright refuse to answer a legitimate question as a government minister is astonishing.”
Pochin was elected as MP for Runcorn and Helsby in a dramatic by-election win earlier this year.
