The Israeli ministry confirmed that all embassy staff are safe. Belgian police have not yet issued an official statement about the arrest.
The incident comes amid a rise in attacks targeting Israeli diplomatic missions across Europe. In July, police in Copenhagen launched an investigation into a suspicious package sent to the Israeli embassy. In February, a suspect was arrested in Berlin on suspicion of planning a “politically motivated” attack on the embassy there.
