Sweden and Poland have signed a declaration of intent to strengthen their military-technical cooperation, solidifying an already close defense relationship.
The agreement was formalized on September 2 during a visit by Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson to Poland. He met with his Polish counterpart, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz who told Jonson
From the very first days when you decided to join the North Atlantic Alliance, we supported that decision and continue to support each other.
The declaration outlines plans for enhanced collaboration in areas such as defense equipment, development, innovation, and the defense industry. This move builds on an existing strategic partnership established between the two nations in November 2024, which both countries regard as a cornerstone of their bilateral ties.
“Sweden and Poland share a common view on the challenges and threats in our region,” Jonson said. “This new declaration of intent on military-technical cooperation takes our partnership to the next level.”
The deputy prime minister also noted that Swedish troops will soon cooperate with the Polish Armed Forces during the ‘Iron Defender’ exercises, which started September 1.
