Three teenagers of Syrian origin assaulted a 12-year-old in Vienna-Fünfhaus on Saturday, stealing cash, a necklace, and a vest from him. The boy sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The alleged perpetrators, aged 13, 14, and 15, were quickly identified by the victim during a police investigation. Authorities located the three youths shortly after at a residential group home for teenagers, from which they had previously been reported missing.
Following the orders of the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects—considered criminally responsible due to their ages—were taken into custody and placed in a juvenile detention facility. The young victim was handed over to a legal guardian.
The attack comes amid a worrying week of violence in Vienna. Earlier, a 16-year-old girl was injured in a knife attack near a school in Brigittenau, prompting a major police operation. In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman was found critically injured in another stabbing. Authorities continue to investigate both cases.
