No injuries reported in a gang-related blast near a local university—yet concerns raised over public safety

Three youths, including two aged just 13, were arrested following an explosion in Oslo city centre on Tuesday, September 23, close to Oslo Metropolitan University.

Police suspect gang-related disputes but gave no further details. No injuries were reported.

Authorities also found and safely neutralised a second device resembling a hand grenade. Norway has a low crime rate but recent gang violence in neighbouring Sweden may be contributing to spillover effects.

Sweden itself suffers from local gangs recruiting ‘child soldiers’—often from migrant backgrounds—to carry out gun attacks on various targets.
