Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky will meet U.S. president Donald Trump on Friday, October 17th, to discuss the potential delivery of American long-range Tomahawk missiles. Discussions will also cover Ukraine potentially acquiring U.S. Patriot air defense systems.
Zelensky is arriving in Washington on Thursday, October 16th, ahead of the talks which come amid warming relations between the two leaders. The Ukrainian source described the tone as “very businesslike,” noting that Washington sees aiding Ukraine as a way to pressure Russia.
Ukrainian officials have met U.S. arms manufacturers, including Raytheon, to discuss missile deliveries which would have a technical launch solution in place. Moscow has warned that sending the missiles could escalate tensions with Washington.
